The Best Places to Stay in Paris With Family – Pros & Cons
If you are looking to share the magic of Paris with your loved ones, I can already tell you you’re going to have one of the best holidays of your life.
But no trip can be memorable without proper scheduling, and if you want to make sure you get the most out of the French capital, there are a few districts (or arrondissements) that you should prioritize.
THE BEST Place to Stay in Paris with Family: 19th arrondissement
Although loads of neighborhoods in Paris are suitable for families, I believe the 19th arrondissement is the best of them all.
Why am I saying this? First off, because it features loads of activities for the younger ones, which is exactly what you need when traveling as a family.
Then, there are several incredible green spaces (namely, the “Parc de la Villette” and the “Buttes Chaumont”, famous throughout the whole city).
Finally, you will love how quiet it is, and how relaxed you and your loved ones will feel.
On top of all of that, believe it or not, it is also the most affordable area of the capital! Another great reason to pick it, especially when you have to pay for several people.

Very affordable
Activities for the younger ones
A bit far from the center
Where to Stay in 19th arrondissement
As incredible as the 19th arrondissement can be, your trip to Paris cannot be memorable if you don’t choose a suitable hotel. Worry not, I have listed my favorite three picks in the area, sorted by budget range:
✅ Best Hotel: Hotel Restaurant Au Boeuf Couronné
If you decide to stay in this hotel, you won’t have to look for a restaurant each day: all you need will be readily available for you and your family! Besides, the building is located in a particularly quaint and relaxing area, and the hotel serves fresh and varied breakfasts.
✨ Luxury Choice: La Belle Ville
The interior of La Belle Ville is particularly refined, with its stylish decoration, modern amenities and comfortable beds. On top of that, the architecture is pretty unique: featuring vertical agriculture on its facade, the building is just awesome! Also, the staff there is both responsive and skillful, making this hotel an overall incredible choice.
💰 Budget Pick: B&B HOTEL Paris Porte des Lilas
If you are looking for a convenient and comfortable hotel in a cheap area such as the 19th arrondissement, this is the one. Featuring incredibly low prices, this hotel offers all the comfort you’ll ever need, with a laid-back lobby to chill and soundproof rooms for restful nights.
Runner up Best Area to Stay in Paris with Family: Le Marais
You might have already heard of it, but Le Marais is one of Paris’ most renowned neighborhoods, and it is particularly coveted by the French.
Ideal for travelers seeking peacefulness, authentic Parisian vibes, beautiful strolls, and cultural discoveries, it is thus easily another fantastic place to stay as a family.
Surrounded by majestic, ancient monuments such as L’Hôtel de Ville (the city hall) and Notre Dame Cathedral, you will love the laid-back atmosphere of Le Marais, and can have a look at plenty of cute shops and eat in tons of tasty restaurants.
Also, it is a fantastic neighborhood for cultural purposes: featuring the famous Centre George Pompidou, the Picasso Museum, and the house of Victor Hugo, it is packed with fascinating and historic visits that anyone should try, but that is even better for groups such as families!
Cute streets
Peaceful neighborhood
Great for culture
Pretty noisy
Where to Stay in Le Marais
Want to stay in Le Marais with your family? Great idea. But what you’ll need for a nice holiday is an equally wonderful hotel. Here, choose one of these three:
✅ Best Hotel: Hôtel Le Presbytère
If you decide to stay in the Hôtel Le Presbytère, you and your family will be blessed with a modern, bright and comfortable interior. On top of that, the staff there is particularly nice and competent, and they will make sure your every demand is swiftly answered.
✨ Luxury Choice: Goralska Résidences Hôtel Paris Bastille
In this hotel, you will enjoy jaw-dropping views of the city, will be served exquisite breakfasts each morning and will live in tastefully decorated and spacious rooms. Perfect!
💰 Budget Pick: PARIS RIVOLI NOTRE DAME Chambre d’Hôtes Studio Private
Although Le Marais as a whole is a pretty expensive part of Paris (but, to be fair, what isn’t expensive in Paris?), you can still find affordable accommodation there, such as this one. Here, your room and bathroom will both be spotlessly clean and modern, while beds are of the utmost comfort.
Best Family-Friendly Area Near the Eiffel Tower: 7th arrondissement
Who doesn’t wish to visit the Eiffel Tower during their trip to Paris? Grownups and younger ones alike, everyone admires the “Iron Lady”, which is for sure the most emblematic monument of Paris, of France, of Europe as a whole… and maybe of the entire globe!
And if you and your loved ones are looking for a holiday near the Eiffel Tower, then you’re in luck: the 7th arrondissement, where it is located, is also one of the best family-friendly neighborhoods of the whole capital.
I’m sure all of you will love its peaceful atmosphere: despite being located in the center of the bustling capital, you and your children will feel at ease and can enjoy one of many green spaces.
Also, the restaurants there are exquisite, so take some time and enjoy the best of France’s cuisine!
Quietest neighborhood
Excellent restaurants
Nice green spaces
Less activities
Where to Stay in the 7th arrondissement
The Eiffel Tower is of interest to you, and you would love to spend your holiday right next to it. But now comes the difficult part: finding suitable accommodation for a family. Don’t worry though, you can pick any of these three options, and you won’t regret it:
✅ Best Hotel: Hotel Muguet
The reason I believe this is the best compromise you can find in the 7th arrondissement is quite clear: for such low pricing, you will enjoy a superb hotel, with modern amenities and comfortable rooms.
✨ Luxury Choice: 1,75 Paris La Sève
If your main concern during your French trip is that you and your family don’t get to experience French luxury, then you should book the best luxury hotel in the 7th arrondissement. There, the atmosphere is both magical and comfy, the decoration is refined and the beds are comfortable.
💰 Budget Pick: Hotel de L’Empereur by Malone
In this hotel, the decoration is in the style of the French Empire, and you will enjoy views of the Hôtel des Invalides, one of Paris’ most famed attractions.
Other Best Places to Stay in Paris With Family
There are a few other areas in Paris that are also suitable for families. So, if the places above didn’t convince you, check out these other areas below:
18th arrondissement
Despite the 18th arrondissement and the next few entries on this list not really fitting in any of the above categories, they are all incredible picks for your next holiday in Paris.
Although the 18th arrondissement is exceptional for a honeymoon, it is also particularly great for a family trip. There, you will live in the Paris of old and will feel like you traveled back in time: surrounded by colorful, cute cafés as well as paved streets, you and your family will love discovering one of several interesting museums of the neighborhood.
Besides, just because you will be further away doesn’t mean you’ll miss out on anything: actually, the best overall views of the French capital are from the 18th arrondissement!
Magical views
Authentic, old style
Cute cafés
Beware of pickpockets!
Where to Stay in 18th arrondissement
As fantastic as the 18th arrondissement and the rest of the city, your family trip can quickly turn into a nightmare with the wrong hotel. And if you’re afraid of that, pick one of these three options:
✅ Best Hotel: Hôtel des Arts Montmartre
If you are looking for the most well-rounded experience the 18th arrondissement has to offer, it’s right here. Perfectly located, in a superb building, it serves tasty and fresh breakfast and has a smiling and nice staff. All in all, the peaceful getaway you’ve been dreaming of for so long!
✨ Luxury Choice: Hôtel Particulier Montmartre
This wonderful hotel offers breathtaking and spacious rooms. Situated in the loveliest area of the arrondissement, its scenery is nothing short of amazing.
💰 Budget Pick: Jardins de Montmartre
Paris is definitely pricey, and finding affordable accommodation is often mandatory. If you agree and need one, book a room at the Jardins de Montmartre. Despite being more affordable, this hotel is still completely fine for a stay as a family, as it has all you need for a comfy holiday.
Quartier Latin (Latin Quarter)
Located in the 5th arrondissement, the Quartier Latin is one of Paris’ most ancient neighborhoods, and it boasts some of the best museums and monuments of the city, such as the Museum of Natural History and the Pantheon.
You and your family will have all the time in the world to learn more about tons of different topics in one of the many cultural institutions of the area.
That’s not all there is to it though, as it is also particularly charming, mostly thanks to its old architectural style and lush gardens. But the Parisians say it best: according to most of them, the Quartier Latin and the 5th arrondissement are the best areas of the entire capital!
Of course, this comes at a price, otherwise, I would have picked it as my favorite area for a family stay: it is a particularly expensive neighborhood, which can deter lots of travelers.
Museums and monuments
Old neighborhood
Best neighborhood according to locals
Large gardens
Very expensive
Where to Stay in the Quartier Latin (Latin quarter)
The bad reputation of Parisians will feel like it never existed in the Quartier Latin, as its inhabitants are known to be sympathetic. Interested in staying there? Choose one of these hotels then:
✅ Best Hotel: Hôtel Pilgrim
I’m sure your family will adore the Quartier Latin and the rest of the 5th arrondissement, and the cherry on top could very well be the Hôtel Pilgrim. Serving exquisite breakfasts each morning, this hotel offers spa services and has its own fitness center. Amazing!
✨ Luxury Choice: Hôtel Jardin de Cluny
Want to take your family trip in the Quartier Latin to an unmatched level of comfort? Check out the Hôtel Jardin de Cluny. This recently renovated and particularly stylish accommodation is all you and your family have ever dreamt of. It is high-class, ideally located, and spotlessly clean.
💰 Budget Pick: Hotel Apolonia Paris Mouffetard, Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western
When it comes to budget-friendly hotels, I’m convinced you won’t find any better compromise than this one. It is definitely a safe pick for a family holiday, as it offers particularly quiet rooms, as well as a cool location.
15th arrondissement
Last but definitely not least on this list is the 15th arrondissement, famous for… nothing specific?
Although located near the 7th arrondissement and the Eiffel Tower, aside from maybe the Montparnasse station, it doesn’t have any of the major monuments Paris is known for.
Instead, it is a residential area, but that’s exactly what makes it so great for families: with its peaceful atmosphere, it is safe and not too far from the city center.
On top of that, it is one of the neighborhoods with the greatest amount of green spaces, which is always enjoyable in such a large metropolis as Paris.
Also, there are several museums worth visiting, and it will overall feel more like you’re living in the French capital rather than staying there for a short holiday.
Tons of green spaces
Several museums
No famous landmark
Where to Stay in the 15th arrondissement
Interested in the residential area of the 15th arrondissement? Cool! My personal advice is to pick one of these hotels if you want to make sure everything goes smoothly:
✅ Best Hotel: Hotel Eiffel Blomet
Ever dreamt of having access to a swimming pool or a jacuzzi in Paris, without having to spend too much? Have a look at the Hotel Eiffel Blomet then, and make your dreams come true. That’s right, this hotel offers a heated swimming pool! On top of all of that, rooms are comfortable and spacious.
✨ Luxury Choice: Le Parisis – Paris Tour Eiffel
Need proof the 15th arrondissement isn’t far from the Eiffel Tower and is also fantastic for your loved ones? Le Parisis – Paris Tour Eiffel boasts fantastic views of the Iron Lady, which is all you need for a fancy holiday. Don’t worry, there’s more, such as cutting-edge equipment or top-notch services.
💰 Budget Pick: Cactus
Nicely located and calm, it offers an immaculately clean interior in a chill environment. What’s best about it, aside from its great value for money, is the comfy beds.
What is the best district in Paris for kids?
Although there are several fantastic options, the best district in Paris for kids is the 19th arrondissement. Boasting plenty of activities for younger ones and a peaceful atmosphere, it has all you need!
Other great options include the 7th arrondissement (mostly thanks to the Eiffel Tower!) or Le Marais.
Final Thoughts
And there you go, these were my favorite areas to stay in Paris with your family. I hope you loved them, that you learned a bit more about the French capital, and that you found the hidden gem you desperately needed.
Just in case you’re still hesitating, let me remind you of this: there is no better place for families in all of Paris than the 19th arrondissement, where you will have green spaces, activities for your kids, and an overall peaceful atmosphere.
