The Best Neighborhoods to Stay in Milos – Pros & Cons
While Milos is one of the many wonderful islands in Greece, not all neighborhoods will fit your needs whether you are traveling on a budget or want to enjoy your trip with comfortable accommodations. Besides, everyone is unique and will want to do different things, from hiking and visiting monuments to simply resting in the sun and enjoying some quality time.
Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered: let’s dive into the list of the best areas of Milos!
THE Best Place to Stay in Milos: Pollonia
Situated on the northeastern coast of Milos, Pollonia is set in front of the island of Kimolos, a major tourist hotspot, and there are tons of ferries connecting the two areas. Pollonia is a very calm village with a quiet atmosphere compared to more active areas such as Adamas, which is a great reason for it to be my favorite pick.
Another very nice plus is its beach. Surrounded by several taverns, bars, and restaurants, it is not as filled with tourists as Adamas would be, and there are also plenty of other facilities in the rest of the village.
An interesting place to visit would be Kostantakis Winery, the only winery on the entire island… it is located on the outskirts of Pollonia, so you should definitely try it out!

Where to Stay in Pollonia
Of course, Pollonia is much calmer than the rest of the island of Milos, I will give you that, but it doesn’t mean that there aren’t tons of hotel options you have to choose from, nor that it is easy to select the one you need. Actually, since there are lots of options and you are located in a quiet (and less expensive area), you could possibly compensate by paying for a fancier hotel than the one you would’ve had in other places. Anyway, here are my favorite picks, sorted by budget:
✅ Best Hotel: Ostria Vento
There isn’t any better place than Ostria Vento in Pollonia, Milos, my favorite pick for a stay in the village. Despite the multitudes of large, luxurious hotels, this one is rather small and cozy, and it takes the prize.
There are obviously good reasons for this pick: not only is the hotel located right next to the central beach of Pollonia, but its host is simply lovely and will take good care of you, and it is decorated in a traditional Cycladic style.
✨ Luxury Choice: villa lord
In case you can’t make up your mind about which luxury hotel to choose for your next stay in Pollonia, let me help you by telling you you simply cannot go wrong with villa lord. This place is simply stunning, and it is situated right by the sea, which you will be able to see all the time.
The best thing about it though has to be its jacuzzi, though: much larger than most other ones and gazing at the sea, it is an amazing amenity to have!
💰 Budget Pick: Captain Stavros
Pollonia could give you a hard time when trying to find affordable yet decent accommodation, and when you’re traveling on a budget it can be really difficult… but Captain Stavros is here for you!
Captain Stavros is a very bright studio with a balcony, and it is fully equipped. Also, it is located in a quiet area, and for sure has the best value for money in all of the village. Traveling on a tight budget? Book Captain Stavros!
Best Area to Stay in Milos for Families: Pollonia
Well, I know we literally just discussed it, but Pollonia is not only the overall best place on the island of Milos, but it is also my favorite pick for families due to its peaceful atmosphere, beautiful beaches, and traditional Greek feel.
As you know, it is located on the northeastern coast of Milos, right in front of the island of Kimolos, a great point of interest that you could visit with your loved ones. Compared to bustling areas such as Adamas, Pollonia is a calmer village with a peaceful atmosphere.
The beach of Pollonia is also a very nice plus. It is surrounded by multitudes of bars, taverns, and restaurants, and the village still has every facility you could ever wish for, despite not being as filled with tourists as Adamas.

Where to Stay in Pollonia
Pollonia is a fantastic village that offers tons of possibilities when it comes to accommodations. Don’t worry, I know, traveling with your family is a wonderful experience but can also be very difficult to plan, especially about picking a convenient hotel. I’m sure what you are looking for though is enough space for you and your loved ones, as well as facilities and peacefulness.
And well, I have just the right picks for you:
✅ Best Hotel: Ostria Vento
If you are heading to Pollonia, Milos with your loved ones, there isn’t any better hotel than Ostria Vento in the zone, my favorite pick for accommodation in the village. Although there are lots of big, fancy hotels, this cozy and lovely guest house is what I like most!
There are multitudes of reasons for this choice: this accommodation is located right next to the beach of Pollonia, it is decorated in a lovely, traditional Cycladic style and is run by a caring host that will help you at all times.
✨ Luxury Choice: villa lord
If you are still debating about which luxury hotel to pick for your next trip to Pollonia with your family, trust me, you will absolutely love villa lord. This stunning luxury villa is located right by the sea, from which you will have fantastic views at all times.
What I love most about it is definitely its hot tub: not only is it very pleasant to have your very own jacuzzi, but this one is particularly large and gazes at the sea, perfect for a family stay.
💰 Budget Pick: Captain Stavros
When traveling on a budget as a group of friends or with your family, it could potentially be extremely hard to find a wide enough, decent, and affordable hotel in Pollonia… if it weren’t for Captain Stavros!
This hotel is actually a very bright studio with a balcony, and it offers the best value for your money in the village. It is fully equipped and located in a remote area.
Where to Stay on Milos for the Beach: Kimolos
Kimolos is a tiny island located just 1 km / 0.6 mi off the coast of Pollonia. It has long stretches of warm, sandy beaches, as well as rich history and a traditional feel to it. If you are looking for the best place to stay in Milos for the beach, Kimolos is the perfect pick!
Despite being isolated from the rest of the action of Milos, Kimolos is very frequently connected to Pollonia via ferries. It also has all the facilities you need, from sidewalk cafés to traditional restaurants.
Also, there is more to it than simply its beaches, as there are few museums and churches, as well as an overall comfortable and friendly atmosphere.
Friendly place
Remote area
Beautiful beaches
Not much to do
Have to rely on ferries
Where to Stay in Kimolos
Finding such a hidden gem as Kimolos is great, but now the next step is to find and pick a decent accommodation.
Fortunately, there are lots of good options for you to pick from, but I have made it simpler for you with only 3 options: the best one, the luxury pick, and the budget choice.
✅ Best Hotel: Thalasea Kimolos – Θalasea – PS Rental
According to me, there is no better option in Kimolos than Thalasea Kimolos. This beautiful accommodation is located right next to Aliki Beach and has air-conditioned units, a stunning outdoor swimming pool, and a free, private parking spot.
Besides, breakfast is very tasty and healthy, and the staff is overall very friendly and helpful. Don’t hesitate more, go for Thalasea Kimolos!
✨ Luxury Choice: Bonatsa Beach House
If you want to make your stay in Kimolos the most memorable, you can, on top of spending your days on its beautiful beaches, sleep in a wonderful guest house such as Bonatsa Beach House.
This accommodation offers a sunny terrace, direct access to Bonatsa Beach, and a private parking spot.
💰 Budget Pick: Polyegos View
Something I particularly like doing when on a trip to areas with wonderful beaches is to book a budget hotel and spend most of my time on the beach, and if you want to do this too in Kimolos, you can go for Polyegos View without even thinking about it.
Polyegos View offers the best value for money on the island. It has a fully-equipped kitchen, a car rental service, and a beautiful balcony with a view of the Aegean Sea!
Best Location to Stay in Milos for Nightlife: Adamas
Adamas is the main port of the island of Milos and thus the best place to base your stay if you want to enjoy the lively nightlife. Besides, it is also a great base for your activities, as you will be able to reach most (if not all) of the island from there! There are also plenty of facilities such as shops and restaurants, and the rest of the island is connected by frequent bus lines.
Although Adamas isn’t the most beautiful place in Milos, it is for sure the most bustling one, making it ideal for nightlife. During the day, there are also some museums you should definitely visit, as well as a busy port and two pristine sand beaches.
All in all, Adamas will never bore you: with such active nightlife, accessibility, and activities, everything you want to do in Milos can be done in Adamas only!
Plenty of restaurants and bars
Beautiful beaches
Frequent ferries
Bustling area
Beach right on the road
Many tourists
Where to Stay in Adamas
If there is only one place you had to pick in Milos for anything related to nightlife, Adamas is for sure your go-to. While it is a fairly small village, everything can be reached within walking range and there are plenty of facilities. Not much is happening there for most of the year, but it becomes the central hub for nightlife during the summer.
Unfortunately, because of all the tourists and the intense activity, it can be pretty tedious to find the best hotel in the area, even more, if you have specific needs. Don’t worry though, I’ve got you covered: although there are lots of great choices, here are my 3 favorite ones:
✅ Best Hotel: Konstantinos
Not only is Konstantinos the best hotel in all of Adamas, but it is also one of the better ones in all on the island of Milos.
Although it is perfect for families thanks to its pretty spacious rooms, proximity to the beach, its own football field, and its complete equipment, I’m not worried about it being a great choice for any kind of traveler. Actually, thanks to its many rooms of different sizes and shapes and its many amenities, couples rate it a great 8.6 out of 10.
✨ Luxury Choice: White Rock Milos Suites
In case you are hesitating about which fancy pick to go for during your next stay in Adamas, let me give you the White Rock Milos Suites, with which nothing can go wrong, trust me on that.
This incredible luxurious hotel is ideally situated, only a couple of minutes away from the beach, in a perfect area to reach all of the other main hotspots of the island, in the center of plenty of facilities such as restaurants and shops, and near the harbor of the village.
💰 Budget Pick: Milos Inn
Planning a trip to such a tourist place as Adamas can be pretty difficult if you’re on a tight budget due to how many fancy hotels and luxury villas there are. But don’t worry, there are also some budget-friendly picks such as Milos Inn for you to enjoy your stay.
Milos Inn offers the best value for money on all of the islands of Milos. It has an incredible rate of 9.5 out of 10 on more than 100 reviews, and is simply beautiful, with a traditional Cycladic decoration and comfy rooms.
Where to Stay Cheap in Milos: Triovasalos
Triovasalos is the largest settlement in Milos. It is merged with neighboring Pera Triovasalos and is located in the central part of the island, near its capital (Plaka) and the traditional village of Trypiti. Opposite to most other areas, this village is located in the hills, relatively far from the sea, which is very unique in Milos, as most of the activity is situated around the coasts.
This village was founded by Andreas Vassalos, from which it got its name. While it used to be isolated and traditional, it is currently experiencing quick commercial development but is still a fairly affordable place to stay in.
What I love most about this village is its traditional architecture and style. Although it is budget-friendly, it still remains a great pick for your next trip to Milos and offers plenty of unusual activities such as biking and hiking.
Different activities than the beach
Isolated area
Affordable village
Far from the sea
Mostly for explorers and hikers
Where to Stay in Triovasalos
Unfortunately, as I said, Triovasalos is quickly expanding in terms of facilities, so it won’t be as easy as you would’ve imagined picking an accommodation.
However, there are plenty of great choices. In fact, while you are staying in the most affordable area of Milos and will spend less on activities and restaurants, you still might want to pick a luxurious accommodation, so here you go:
✅ Best Hotel: Apartments Matilda
The best hotel in the budget-friendly village of Triovasalos is, for me, Apartments Matilda. It is fully equipped, is tidy and clean and has a very stylish interior with modern facilities.
These apartments are pretty spacious and comfortable, and they even offer their own little terrace. Besides, the host (Matilda, of course) is fantastic and will make sure you spend the best possible stay in Triovasalos!
✨ Luxury Choice: Villa Vipera
Situated in a perfect place in Triovasalos, Villa Vipera is a large accommodation from which you can do tons of activities close by, from biking and hiking to resting in the sun, diving into the transparent waters of the Cyclades or walking to the beach.
This hotel is perfectly clean and has spacious bedrooms, and there is only one thing left for me to say: if you can book it, go ahead!
💰 Budget Pick: Katerina Apartments
Katerina Apartments are family-run apartments in a peaceful area of Triovasalos, an already very calm village. It is located only 200 m / 650 ft from small shops, a bus stop, and a mini market and offers independent accommodations with WiFi.
The air-conditioned units of Katerina Apartments have a private balcony with a view of the garden and the neighboring mountain. Overall, a perfect budget pick!
Milos Where to Stay for the Local Experience: Trypiti
If you are looking to feel like a local inhabitant of the Cyclades in Milos, there is no better place than Trypiti. While this village seems like it is part of the capital, it is actually very close to it but remains independent. Similarly to Plaka, Trypiti is built on high cliffs and overlooks the sea; it can be easily recognized thanks to its windmills, some of them transformed into luxury apartments!
Trypiti will not only offer you an authentic experience, but it is also a great place for many activities such as the famous catacombs and the antique theater of Milos, as well as the colorful harbor of Klima, all of which are located right underneath the village.
On the whole, Trypiti is a remote, peaceful area in which you will be living amongst locals and will truly experience the best of Milos and the Cyclades.
Authentic feel
Scenic location
Far from the beach
Where to Stay in Trypiti
Although Trypiti is an authentic and traditional village, it is currently growing and being home to more and more tourists, and it can thus be a pain to find a convenient accommodation.
But well, you know the drill, I have made the hard work for you:
✅ Best Hotel: Zanart Maisonette
Generally speaking, there is not a more solid pick for a hotel in Trypiti than Zanart Maisonette. Situated right in the middle of the village, it offers fantastic views of the Bay of Milos and is located close to public transport.
Zanart Maisonette is a cozy guest house that is fully equipped and has a wonderful balcony. If you want a local experience, this place and its Cycladic interior will charm you!
✨ Luxury Choice: Villa de viento
Just because you want to book a luxurious accommodation, doesn’t mean that you’ll lose the authentic feel to it.
In Trypiti, Villa de viento is a fantastic, entire villa located at the top of the village. It overlooks the area and offers incredible panoramic views from its wide, sunny terrace.
💰 Budget Pick: Morfeas Hotel
Biking, hiking, and visiting nearby monuments and points of interest are probably the best things to do in Trypiti. Because of this, you might want to pick a budget hotel such as Morfeas Hotel, the best of them.
This affordable accommodation has everything you need, from comfortable beds to a private bathroom and free WiFi. It is located right next to the catacombs of Milos.
Where to Stay in Milos: Adamas or Pollonia?
The answer to this question really depends on what you are looking for. I personally think that Adamas and Pollonia are the 2 best places to stay in Milos on the whole, but it all comes down to what you want.
If you don’t have a car, stay in Adamas, as the village is more connected than Pollonia. It is also more active, especially for nightlife, but can be a bit overwhelming.
If, on the other hand, you need a peaceful place to rest or are traveling with your family, Pollonia is a fantastic choice. In any case, both picks are fantastic villages, and they are connected by frequent bus lines.
