What Makes a Great Place to Stay in Algarve with Toddler
✅ No crowds: Too many people can be very unsettling for the youngest among us. As Algarve can get pretty crowded during summer, being away from the vast majority of tourists is the first thing we’ve looked for in this top, and the best tips if you’re flying with a baby.
✅ No nightlife scene: If your kid doesn’t sleep well during the night, it jeopardizes the entire following day. For that reason, the selection below takes into account a very calm nightlife. You’ll find little if any nightly disturbance in those places. For your own peace of mind.
✅ Family friendly hotels: Indeed. This is the most important point. You need good facilities for you and your family when going to Portugal with kids. And the service must be well suited. You’ll find kindergarten, a child day care in most of the resorts, and the villas come with everything to help you.
The Best Places to Stay in Algarve with a Baby
Algarve is among the most renowned place on earth for a sunny vacation. But with a baby, things can get a little harder.
That’s why I’ve selected for you the best places in the Algarve for you and your family.
THE Best Place to Stay in Algarve with a Baby: Alvor
Located in the western part of the Algarve, Alvor is a lovely picturesque village. One of the many typical fishing villages in Portugal.
The buildings are mainly low-rise, so it has kept its charm from before the mass tourism era. The traditional white washed houses; the medieval churches and its old castle; the narrow streets and the amazing beaches and river make Alvor one of the best holiday destinations.
The newly done waterfront is the perfect place for peaceful walks along the shore, with a collection of nice restaurants and a lot of boats that might take you on for a ride. The town center is strictly pedestrian, and this is a very important feature with toddlers.
Regarding beaches, you have several choices. The broad and famous Praia de Alvor, with a lot of sunbeds, or the smaller secluded cloves of Dona Ana and Camilo which are perfect to have a little less wind than in the first one.
Also, the regular bus shuttle to the nearby cities and beaches makes unnecessary the use of a car.
