Where are Old Harry Rocks?
Old Harry Rocks are a part of the Jurassic Coast, the UNESCO World Heritage Site in the South of England.
Located in the area of Dorset, they are the easternmost point of the Jurassic Coast.
How to Get to Old Harry Rocks
To visit Old Harry Rocks, you’ll first need to go to Studland. Studland is the nearby village, and will be your starting point.
I recommend parking in the South Beach Car Park, which is the closest parking lot to Old Harry.
Follow Manor Road, to Harry Warren House.
When facing the private property, keep going to the right. You’ll soon reach the SW Coast Path, that will take you all the way to Old Harry Rocks.
From the parking lot, the hike to Old Harry Rocks takes around 35 minutes.
Exploring the cliffs
When you start the hike to Old Harry Rocks, on the SW Coast Path, you’re walking on a big open stretch of land. The path is on the cliff, next to the sea, and I loved walking there. Even if it was pouring rain, walking in the open, with the sea on one side, and fields with cows on the other is just so refreshing.
There is only one path, so don’t worry you won’t get lost. Simply follow the path. After around 15 minutes, on your left side you will see thick bushes. Keep going for a couple of minutes, and then you’ll see a bend in the path.
There is an opening in the bushes, and the path goes in. Go in, and you’ll reach Studland Viewpoint.
At Studland Viewpoint, you’ll have a first view of the lime cliffs of the Jurassic Coast, before reaching Old Harry Rocks. It’s a cool place, and if you go to the end you get a feeling of freedom that is just so enjoyable!
When you’re ready to leave Studland Viewpoint, go back to the path, and a 3 minutes walk will take you to the main view of Old Harry Rocks.
It really feels like the end of the world when you’re at Old Harry. The cliffs have a very unique formation, with bends and curves. You can walk to the edge of each individual overlook, and you’ll have a stunning view of the sea, with waves crashing against the white cliffs.
When you go to the furthest point of the cliffs, you’ll see the 3 rock formations in the sea, named Old Harry Rocks.
The cliffs have very different shapes, all around the coast. Spend some time exploring the area, and going on top of the cliffs. You’ll have different views, and sea different part of the cliffs.
