Where is Corfe Castle?
Corfe castle is one of the prettiest little towns in Dorset, on the Jurassic Coast.
Contrary to its name, Corfe Castle is not only a castle. Yes, there is a castle, but Corfe Castle is also the name of the village.
This village is located right next to Old Harry Rocks (12mn drive) and Durdle Door (25mn drive)
Exploring the Village
The main attraction of the village is, as the name implied, the castle. However there are other beautiful things to see in the village, such as the charming streets, the train station and legendary steam train. Exploring cute villages is a nice experience in England as there are a lot, and you won’t be disappointed in Corfe Castle.
I’m sure you’ll love the village; it’s full of charm, and reminds me a lot of Castle Combe (another lovely village in the area)
Let’s start with the obvious: the castle. You can’t miss it. You basically see it from miles away, towering over the surrounding fields.
To me, the best place to see the castle is: everywhere. You can see it from everywhere, and you’ll get different views depending where you’re standing. Go explore around the village, climb hills, you’ll get beautiful views of the castle.
The picture above was taken outside the village, next to the train tracks.
If you want to explore Corfe Castle even more, you can actually go inside. Seeing the castle from inside is a totally new perspective, and you get a real sense of how big it really is.

Corfe Castle Entry Fee

Adult: $13
Child (5 to 17 years old): $6.50
Prices may vary slightly in some days (peak days); this will add around $1.50 to the entry fee.
The Old Train Station
Another thing Corfe Castle is famous for is the old train station, and its steam train. Yup, a steam train!
The train station is exactly how you picture an old English train station. Cherry on top, the steam train still runs, and I loved watching it go through the village!
The steam train is part of the Swanage Railway. If you wish to see the steam train, you’ll need to plan your visit in advance according to the train schedule, because the steam train doesn’t run every day. It also stops as Corfe Castle at different times depending on the days & months.

To me, the steam train was the best part of Corfe Castle! You can see it from the train station, but you can also see it from different parts of the village.
Wander the charming streets
Finally, I loved Corfe Castle for its charming streets. The village is really tiny, and you’ll have explored it before long, but if you want to step even more back in time, take a stroll in the streets.
