Tell me honestly: who has never dreamt of spending a night inside a French chateau, in the Bordeaux wine region? Well, if you want to make your dreams come true, have a look at the Château de Ferrand.

There isn’t a more romantic chateau near Bordeaux than the Château du Tertre. This accommodation is nothing but beautiful, and it is both cozy and intimate, making it the ideal choice for a trip with your other half.
When it comes to its atmosphere, this chateau is particularly peaceful, and the surroundings are quiet and relaxing: if you are looking for a chill holiday in southwestern France, go for it!

Closest Chateau to Bordeaux City Center: Hôtel Château La Chèze – Bordeaux Floirac
- Gorgeous outdoor area
- Comfortable beds

Although it is not easy to find a chateau to stay near the center of Bordeaux, I believe the Hôtel Château La Chèze – Bordeaux Floirac is as close as it can get. Located less than 10 km / 6 mi from the center, it is the ideal retreat in the suburbs, for those of you who still want to enjoy the main action of the city.
This chateau is definitely not all about its location though, because there are plenty of other great reasons to pick it. First off, its beds are of the utmost comfort. Then, it serves exquisite breakfasts each morning. And lastly, its outdoor area is both wide and magnificent!
Best Chateau on Bordeaux Left Bank: Le Moulin de Margaux
- Inside a windmill!
- Panoramic views
- Ideal for nature lovers
Le Moulin de Margaux is a truly unique place, which is why I am particularly fond of it. If you decide to stay there, you will live inside an ancient windmill, amidst vineyards and castles, in one of France’s most renowned regions. A very special kind of chateau!
Don’t worry though, just because it is in an atypical location doesn’t mean you’ll have to sacrifice any of your comfort: in fact, the interior is modern, and fully equipped!
Another fantastic perk of this accommodation is definitely its panoramic views. In a quiet area, you will love endlessly gazing at the wine region of Bordeaux; also, don’t forget about the many hikes in the near vicinity. Want a relaxing holiday? Pick Le Moulin de Margaux!
Best Chateau on Bordeaux Right Bank: Chateau Prieure Marquet
- Exceptional cuisine

Although the right bank of Bordeaux doesn’t have an atypical chateau in and of itself, it still boasts the Chateau Prieure Marquet, which is peculiar when it comes to its activities: if driving a quad or going on a picnic in a Jeep sounds fun to you, then you should definitely have a look at it.
Aside from that, the rooms of this chateau are particularly comfortable, spacious and bright. They offer restful nights, as well as stunning views of the outdoor area.

What better place is there to start your day and enjoy your breakfast?
Château Meyre

Is it better to stay in Bordeaux or St Emilion?
Bordeaux and Saint-Émilion are both fantastic places to stay, but depending on your needs, you might want to pick one over the other.
Saint-Émilion is better when it comes to the laid-back atmosphere, the isolation in the middle of vineyards and the wine tasting (although this is possible anywhere around the region).
On the other hand, Bordeaux is more buzzing with activity, and you will have easy access to the city center if you choose to stay there.
