Alykes and Alykanas are 2 small towns located on the eastern coast of Zante, 2 km / 1.2 mi from each other and 16 km / 10 mi north of Zante Town. Although they are 2 different places, they are often considered one location.

There are plenty of incredible activities for you and your loved one in Zante. First and foremost, obviously, the magnificent sand beaches will probably be your main point of interest; but there’s more! Then, I’m sure you will love the historical side of the village, being located in the middle of 2 ancient Venetian watchtowers. Finally, wine tasting is very popular and the main street is pretty calm and has lots of shops, restaurants, and other facilities.

On the whole, Alykes and Alykanas are the best possible place for an older couple looking for a resort in Zante. The atmosphere is overall very peaceful and calm, as there isn’t that much nightlife or other disturbance.

Argassi is a small tourist resort located 3 km / 1.8 mi south of Zante Town. It has quickly risen to become one of the main points of interest for tourists on the island, both thanks to its proximity to the city and its activities as well as its ideal, central location.

You will find plenty of facilities in Argassi, from bars and restaurants to gift shops and rental services. While it is perfectly adapted for older couples, everyone will love their stay in the village, I can guarantee that.

The village has a small beach but many others are easily reachable with public transportation, and it has a Venetian bridge dating back to 1805.

In Argassi, I am convinced you cannot find any better hotel than Hotel Palmyra. This place offers fantastic value for money, and its interior is spacious, clean, and tidy, and its exterior is particularly sunny, which immediately convinced me.

When it comes to decoration, the ensemble is stylish. About commodities, there are lots of bars, shops, and restaurants nearby, as well as an on-site restaurant serving traditional Greek cuisine, in case you want to explore new tastes.

✨ Luxury Choice: Ionian Hill Hotel

You don’t need anything else than the Ionian Hill Hotel for a comfortable and luxurious stay in Argassi.

Believe it or not, there are not one… not two… but three fantastic resorts for a stay as an older couple in Zante!

As a matter of fact, Kalamaki is a very quiet and beautiful place, and it is situated only 6 km / 3.7 mi from Zante Town, the beating heart of the island. This village is particularly adapted to older couples, as well as families and young couples because of its very relaxing atmosphere, one of the quietest ones on the entire island of Zante.

In Kalamaki, you will also find plenty of bars, restaurants, and shops, and it still remains a pretty active city where you will be able to find anything you need.

Despite this, what I love most about the village is actually the fact that it isn’t situated right by the beach, and for a good reason: its beaches are renowned for being a major hatching area for loggerhead sea turtles, which are critically endangered reptiles, and the light pollution would be catastrophic for the animals, so Kalamaki is set to further away!

Despite not being located right next to the water, Kalamaki still has tons of apartments and hotels for you to choose from (don’t worry, you can still enjoy the beach there!).

Whether it is for decoration, architecture, multiple (!) swimming pools, equipment, or value for money, Marelen Hotel Zakynthos remains the best option in all of Kalamaki.

There are indeed 3 swimming pools in the hotel, and although it is situated quite close to the airport, you won’t be bothered by the noise as it is far enough from it. Also, there is an on-site restaurant with a rooftop, and the front desk is open at all times, so what more could you want?

✨ Luxury Choice: Golden Sun Resort – Adults Only

Because it is more of a luxurious hotel, I couldn’t put Golden Sun Resort as my favorite pick in Kalamaki, but it is for sure one of the best hotels in the village.

This incredibly well-decorated accommodation is just marvelous. Not only is its architecture unique and fascinating, but it also has a jacuzzi and it is situated right next to Crystal Beach, Vrontonero Beach, the airport, and a theme park!

💰 Budget Pick: Vanessa Hotel

For a budget option, Vanessa Hotel is incredible. It is situated right next to Kalamaki Beach and has a traditional, verdant Mediterranean garden.

Everything is brightly colored and sparkling with excitement and joy. And the outdoor swimming pool is spotless and is another great plus for a budget-friendly hotel!

What Makes A Great Resort for an Older Couple?

In my opinion, the most important thing for a resort to be suited to older couples is its peacefulness. It also needs to have everything readily available for you not to worry about anything, needs to offer impeccable service, and needs to have comfortable rooms.

Besides, if you are going to Zante, you will definitely want to go to the beach and relax in the sun, so the resort should be close to the seaside, and ideally on the beachfront.
